What is Family Mediation?
Mediation is a process where a neutral third party, the mediator, acts as an intermediary during a confidential settlement discussion and attempts to assist the parties in developing options for an amicable resolution of the dispute. Mediation offers an effective, confidential alternative to litigation that is both time and cost efficient.
Mediation makes common sense because it allows the people who are actually involved in the dispute to have control over how it gets resolved. Conflict is a part of our social, cultural and human condition. Conflicts can also be catalysts for progress and growth
Family mediation is all about you—creating solutions that fit your life, protect what matters most, and help everyone move ahead with clarity and care. Whether you're working through a divorce, parenting plan, guardianship, or other family concerns, mediation gives you a voice in the outcome.
Why Mediation?
Going through a divorce is already hard on the heart — choosing mediation can make it gentler, easier, and less expensive for everyone involved.
Here’s why so many couples are thankful they chose this path:
It can save you a lot of money Litigating a divorce in court can easily cost tens of thousands of dollars (attorney fees often run $450+ per hour per person). Mediation is only $250 per hour and you split the cost — most couples finish everything in just one day of mediation.
You stay in control of your schedule No waiting months for a court date. You pick times that work for your life and move forward at your own pace.
It keeps things calmer and kinder Mediation helps you and your spouse talk respectfully and work together instead of fighting in court. This is especially precious when kids are involved — it protects their hearts and helps you both stay the good parents you’ve always been.
You get solutions that actually fit your family Courts follow strict rules and give one-size-fits-all answers. In mediation, you create agreements that make sense for your unique situation — creative, fair, and truly yours.
It’s so much faster Many couples wrap up everything in a single day of mediation, with the final paperwork signed just 4–8 weeks later. Court? That can drag on for a year or more.
Everything stays private and safe Nothing goes on the public record. Your personal matters stay between you, your spouse, and the mediator. And if being in the same room feels too hard right now, that’s okay — Christina can meet with you in separate, comfortable rooms and gently carry messages back and forth so you both feel heard and at ease.
How Mediation Works – A Gentle, Step-by-Step Path Forward
1.) Start with a Free 15-Minute Phone Call
You’ll chat with us (no pressure, no cost). We’ll explain everything in plain language, answer all your questions, and make sure you feel comfortable and cared for right from the start.
2.) One Thoughtful Mediation Day (or a few short sessions)
You pick a date that works for your life. Together we will talk through everything that matters:
Money and property
Parenting schedules and child support
Anything special to your family Christina doesn’t take sides or tell you what to do – she simply helps you both feel heard, keeps the conversation kind and productive, and guides you toward agreements you can both live with.
3.) Your Agreement, Written with Care
Once you’ve worked everything out, we write up a clear, agreement (called a Marital Settlement Agreement). If you each have a lawyer, they’ll look it over. Then it goes to the court for a quick final stamp of approval – usually in just a few weeks.
